Top five Serie A Goals of 2019-20

Juventus player Paulo Dybala

Ahead of the return of Serie A football this weekend, we take a look at the top-five goals to have been scored so far in the 2019-20 campaign.

5) Goran Pandev – Lecce v Genoa

If you’re a fan of watching a goalkeeper frantically sprint back to his line in the hope of clawing away a long-range looping effort, then this one is for you.

Handed a spot in the starting XI by former boss Thiago Motta, Pandev grabbed his opportunity with both hands as he made opposition goalkeeper Gabriel look rather silly.

An overhit pass should have been comfortably dealt with by Gabriel but the Brazilian, who met the ball outside his box, inexplicably decided to clear first time.

After failing to get the right purchase on his clearance, Gabriel knew immediately that he was in trouble.

Pandev showed a sharpness of someone half his age to bring the ball down and swipe towards goal from all of 40 yards.

A comical fall into the net followed from Gabriel as the Genoa striker broke the deadlock, although the match would finish 2-2.

4) Jeremie Boga – Sassuolo v Torino

Boga has already put together quite the showreel of goals in Serie A, despite being just 23 years old.

The Chelsea academy graduate has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge and it’s clear to see why when assessing his exploits in Italy.

The winger showed fleet of foot to get the hosts back on level terms at the MAPEI Stadium, flicking the ball through an opponents legs before caressing the ball into the top right corner.

3) Ciro Immobile – Lazio v SPAL

Immobile has firmly established himself as one of the top strikers in Europe since joining Lazio in 2016.

With 27 goals to his name thus far in 2019-20 he has become a hugely influential figure and the main reason that Lazio remain in the race for the Scuetto.

His second goal in the 5-1 thrashing of SPAL in February is the focus here.

The Italy ace made a mockery of the opposition defence as he charged to the by-line, drawing goalkeeper Etrit Berisha out of position, before cutting back, dancing around the ball and cutely chipping in from a tight angle.

2) Paulo Dybala – Juventus v Inter Milan

Dybala wrapped up the points to help Juventus complete a league double in the Derby D’Italia in their final game before the enforced break.

Aaron Ramsey had already put The Old Lady in control early in the second half and the clash was decided courtesy of a moment of magic from Dybala.

After picking up the ball out wide, the Argentine proceeded to dribble past two players before working a one-two with Cristiano Ronaldo on the edge of the box.

The best was yet to come, however, as Dybala weaved his way through the defence and poked home with the outside of his favoured left foot.

1) Ruslan Malinovskiy – Atalanta v Hellas Verona

Atalanta have played some scintillating football during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring a league high 70 times, so it’s no surprise the number one goal so far this term comes from their ranks.

Malinonskiy joined the Italian club from Genk during the off-season and he opened his account with a memorable strike at home to Hellas Verona in December.

After finding space in the final third he opened up his body to release a thunderbolt of an effort across goal, bringing the game level at 1-1.

Atalanta, who are seeking a top-four finish, went on to win the match 3-2.
