Jockey, Hayley Turner gives her tips for Day 2 of the Glorious Goodwood Festival.

Racing action from Goodwood Racecourse

I am down at Goodwood today – it’ll be great to be down here. I have one ride on Onassis in the Group 3 and will be on ITV for a handful of races to join Ed Chamberlin and the team. Goodwood is one of my favourite tracks and it’ll be great to be back here with crowds again!

Wednesday at Goodwood

2:25 – Oak Tree Stakes

I can’t wait to ride ONASSIS (5/1) again! She was such a star last season and one of her best performances came here at Goodwood in October on heavy ground over this trip. I’ve not actually ridden her since her pleasing 4th at York, as I was up north on Saturday when she did her last piece of proper work. The vibes from the team at Charlie Fellowes’ has been very good though and she has everything in her favour today. The return to 7-furlongs is perfect for her and the soft ground really suits her.

3:35 – Sussex Stakes

When Palace Pier came out of this race, I thought it would be a formality for Poetic Flare after his demolition at Royal Ascot but the race has been shaken up somewhat by the rain and Snow Lantern diverting here from the Nassau Stakes. My selection for the race is ALCOHOL FREE (10/3). She was brilliant on heavy ground at Royal Ascot and I think Goodwood will really suit her given how agile she is and I think she could really serve it up to the favourite. It should be a very exciting race.

Stay safe,

Hayley!
