1.00 Salisbury – Byerley Stud Racing Excellence Apprentice Handicap

Not an easy race to start with and it might be between Rectory Road and Piselli Molli. Preference is for the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Piselli Molli, who was impressive when winning at Yarmouth in June and has excuses for her last two defeats. She probably found good to soft ground against her when third at Newmarket two starts ago and, last time out at Yarmouth, she shaped like she needed further than a mile. This stiffer track should be ideal.

Selection: Piselli Molli @ 7/2

1.30 Salisbury – Byerley Stud Novice Stakes

Outbreak looks likely to go off favourite for this juvenile event following a promising debut second at Chelmsford, but it’s worth taking him on with the Ryan Moore-ridden Point Lynas.

The Iffraaj colt should find this easier than when fifth of 16 in a hot nursery at York’s Ebor meeting last time and can put his experience to good use against the once-raced Outbreak.

Selection: Point Lynas @ 4/1

2.00 Salisbury – Bob Mccreery Memorial British EBF Quidhampton Maiden Fillies’ Stakes

This looks like a good opportunity for Hamseh to build on her promising debut over 6f at Newbury last month. The Helmet filly was green on that first experience on track but kept on steadily from the rear to finish third despite wandering in the closing stages. Her half-brother Al Mutathar recorded his sole victory last year over a mile and Hamseh shapes like she will be well suited by the step up a furlong in trip. She rates the best bet of the afternoon.

Selection: Hamseh @ 9/4

2.35 Salisbury – Ire Incentive Scheme Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes (Group 3)

This contest has a rich history and this year’s event looks up-to-scratch. The sky’s the limit for the unbeaten pair Intelligentsia and Pearl Glory, who both look like smart prospects. However, they lack experience and Tardis might be able to take advantage. The Michael Bell-trained filly is improving rapidly and she recorded a good time when beating 16 rivals in the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes at Newbury last time. She was no stronger than at the finish and the step up a furlong in trip on this stiff track can take the progressive Tardis to the next level.

Selection: Tardis @ 11/4

3.05 Salisbury – European Bloodstock News EBF “Lochsong” Fillies’ Handicap

This race is named after Jeff Smith’s legendary sprinter Lochsong and the leading owner will be desperate to win it with Quickstep Lady. There was a lot to like about the way the Andrew Balding-trained filly won on her return to 6f at Windsor last time and the form has been franked by the runner-up, who is a subsequent winner. Quickstep Lady looks fairly treated after a 4lb rise and she should be well suited by this stiff 6f. Her only other victory was at 7f.

Selection: Quickstep Lady @ 4/1

3.35 Salisbury – Molson Coors Handicap

Not a lot went right for Balearic at this course last time. He was short of room and hampered after four furlongs and then didn’t stay the 1m4f trip. He is worth another chance to confirm the striking impression he made when winning a handicap at Chepstow over this shorter trip on his previous start. Balearic bolted up by six and a half lengths on that occasion and a reproduction would give him a big chance. Tom Marquand rode last time and keeps the faith.

Selection: Balearic @ 11/2
