The Ebor Handicap was first run in 1843 and it’s now the most valuable handicap in Europe. In 2019 it was the first handicap in Britain to be worth a million pounds in prize money.

Lester Pigott still holds the record for the most wins in the race with 5 victories and Thomas Dawson

holds the record for the most wins as a trainer with his first coming all the way back in 1844.
